Destination Southwest Nova Scotia Tourism Association hosts its First Annual General Meeting & Conference – May 7th & 8th
White Point, Queens County – Plans are well underway for the first annual general meeting and conference of the newly organized Destination Southwest Nova Scotia Association. The conference and meeting will take place on Monday, May 7th and Tuesday, May 8th, 2007 at White Point Beach Resort, Queens County.
Destination Southwest Nova Scotia is a partnership organization between the Evangeline Trail, South Shore and Yarmouth County Tourism Associations. The organization encompasses the Evangeline Trail and the Lighthouse Route. The partnership was founded following the release of the 2001 Tourism Strategy for Southwest Nova Scotia. Much of the focus of the organization since its inception has been destination marketing and soft product development such as the creation of experiential packages and itineraries.
The DSWNS 2007 Business Plan and new Product Development initiatives will be reviewed at the AGM & Conference, as well, a Municipal Tourism Summit will be held on Monday, May 7th, 2007. All business operators are welcome to attend the conference which will include the Southwest Awards Banquet on Monday evening with Guest Speaker, Susan Tilley-Russell, President of the Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia. Workshops and presentations on Tuesday include: membership advocacy and governance, festivals and events sessions, product development, membership, marketing, website initiatives and much more. We are pleased to have Kelliann Dean, Deputy Minister, Nova Scotia Tourism, Culture & Heritage and CTC Board Member present the “We are More” Canadian Tourism Commission Presentation at the luncheon on Tuesday.
