The Clare Acadian Festival is a celebration of Acadian heritage and culture. As the oldest Acadian festival in Canada the Festival hosts many varied activities to suit all interests and all ages. Attracting both tourists and the local population as well as. Many of the Festivals attendees are Acadians who come back home each year for their summer vacations.
Since the 2004 World Acadian Congress, the Festival’s organizing committee, has continued to enrich the quality and diversity of its activities.
This years Festival will still featuring many traditional activities like the Gabriel and Evangeline contest, parade, competitions and the bazaar.
All three week-ends will feature Acadian, Cajun and Bluegrass music, with many local Clare groups as well as some of the best Acadian groups from New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Louisiana.
Other gatherings will promote storytelling, film, music, dance and theatre.
An Artists open house day and a Quilt Exhibit will be featured inviting people to tour all Galleries and see talented local Artists at work.
Ocean and land excursions promoting Clare’s unique natural landscapes will help round out the Festival.
The Festival runs for two weeks beginning July 28th and ending August 15th with a noisy Tintamarre and an electrifying fireworks display.
The Clare Acadian Festival is an attractive mixture of modern and traditional activities coupled with warm hospitality of the Acadian People.
