Thoughout Yarmouth County and surrounding areas of Nova Scotia the waters rose to record levels this past week.
Heavy rainfall combined melting snow saw water levels rise to record highs.
Many roads both in the local area and areas in neighboring counties were flooded and in some cases homes were affected.
Route 308 in Quinan, where 25 families were affected was closed till Thursday afternoon when it opened to emergency vehicles.
Affected residents have been warned not to the drink well water till it has been tested.
The EMO delivered jugs of water donated by Carl’s Store in Tusket, and the situation has been under the watchful eye of the Quinan Fire Department who also helped distribute food and coffee, donated by local businesses.
Several other roads in the area in Yarmouth County were affected including the Gray (or Cross ) Road and Polly Road in Kemptville.
On our trip to Halifax this week it was evident that the water levels affected areas well beyond the local areas and likely it will mean thousands of dollars in clean up costs in many areas.
