TH’YARC LOBBY GALLERY APRIL EXHIBIT
“From sea level to 5500 feet, with spoons and forks in between” by Dave Gorman
About the artist:
Dave Gorman was born and raised in Yarmouth NS. He attended university at Mount Allison in Sackville New Brunswick focusing on coastal geography and Canadian studies but taking a few art history classes.
He began painting at the age of 12 spending one year in the Art in Action program and then continuing to study with Gertrude and Paula Garson.
The “Garson Sisters” made a profound influence on his artistic methods that allowed him to paint freely but still maintain the rules of art.
David’s art focuses on semi-abstract coastal and mainland interpretations as well as some abstractions and mixed media such as sculpture with household items.
His main influence is the natural environment and it’s ever changing demeanor.
This exhibit will feature some works from the past five years but mainly from the last twelve months, focusing on David’s favorite spots in Atlantic Canada and portraits of Yoho National Park in British Columbia.
You can also expect a few sculptures.
